... if you can breathe you can
do yoga..!
I teach Satyananda style Yoga, a traditional form of hatha yoga incorporating all the elements of yoga postures (asana), breathing practices (pranayama), meditation & deep relaxation (yoga nidra). My yoga journey began with a dedicated Astanga practice and I continue to be inspired by flowing styles of yoga, where the breath guides the practice and leads to deep internal awareness. Finding the balance between dynamic and passive is explored through using Restorative Yoga poses and techniques.
Yoga is so much more than the physical and we often explore the more esoteric elements, such as working with chakras, to get in tune with the more subtle energies that govern our being. I welcome students of all levels and ages, encouraging you to work to your own level. If you have specific needs that I feel would be best met by one-to-one tuition, then I will give you that choice.
I trained with Ashram Yoga in Auckland, New Zealand between 2001 & 2007 and am trained to teach beginners through to advanced as well as antenatal and postnatal. In 2006 I attended Judith Lasater's Yoga Therapeutics teacher training which focuses on Restorative Yoga. I have taught in many environments since 2001 from yoga studios, to gyms and corporate classes. I have also been running my own classes, workshops & retreats since 2001. I am registered with the Yoga Alliance (USA) at the 500 hour level.
